I always knew he was a great director but a straight up badass wtf.
This doc is run of the mill but the story of the man, the myth, the legend is gold. You have commentary by some of the actors ( Leo, T.Hanks) and other directs ( Lucas, Scorsese). I enjoyed the first half of the doc way better than the 2nd half. Hearing about how hard JAWS was to shoot, the battle of a man vs the sea wanting to give up, going over budget, taking twice as long but finally seeing the lines of people to get in to the theaters, had me on the edge of my seat at 3am.
The only issue I have with the guy who is responsible for ET, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, War of the Worlds and more was why the fuck would you wear a scarf during most of your interviews for this? Own up to the badass in you Spielberg!!!
But all kidding aside you can't hate on him, the guy paved ways for the movies we watch now. I think he may be considered the first "Shot Caller" director of any major studio when he was in his 20's. Imagine that life, young, rich, artsy with a camera and in Hollywood with the hottest of the hottest. DAMM
